“Iron Curtain Trail” European project and National Coordination Center EuroVelo traveled to Hortiatis mountain for the “2nd Action Bike Club MTB Hortiati” mountain cycling race that was organised by “Veteran Athletes Cycling Association of Macedonia and Thrace” in collaboration with Action Bike Club and Specialized stores. The cycling race followed an amazing route through the mountain that satisfied even the most demanding participating athlete.

Guests of the 78th Thessaloniki International Fair had the opportunity to be informed on the South East Europe (SEE) Programme “Sustainable mobility along the newest Eurovelo Route, the Iron Curtain Trail (ICT)” project that on national level is being implemented by “ANTIGONE-Information and Documentation Center on Racism, Ecology, Peace and Non-Violence” in the regions of Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. As a member of the Network of Voluntary Organisations of Thessaloniki, Ecological Movement of Thessaloniki (National Coordination Center EuroVelo) that collaborates with ANTIGONE for the implementation of the project, had a presence in the fair to present “Iron Curtain Trail” project.

The forum hosted by Self-goverment of County Zala has been organised for local NGOs, relevant ICT project partners, as well as organisations working in rural and regional development on both sides of the border in Slovenia and Hungary.

The ICT project has been presented at the "GreenSpots" project conference in Alexandroupoli, Greece

Presentation was held by Giorgos Farfaras, responsible for the implementation of ICT project at the greek project partner ANTIGONE (Information and Documentation Centre on Racism, Ecology, Peace and Non–Violence) and administrator of National EuroVelo Coordination Center for Greece.

Held at “Amphitheatre Draminon” in the building of administration in the city of Drama,the aim of the event was to raise awareness about the progress of the project and the perspective of the development of the European bicycle route EuroVelo 13 in the province of Drama.

On the day before the partner meeting held in Eisenstadt (Kismarton), Westpannon Ltd. as lead partner invited project partners and professionals working on the field to a study tour in the Lake Fertő area in Burgenland, Austria and Hungary. Participants visited sustainable transport and tourism projects, and had presentations and discussion about the projects shown.

Last week it was announced that an agreement had been reached between the three main European Institutions – the European Commission, the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament – on proposals to transform the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The agreed text refers to cycling and EuroVelo for the first time. The TEN-T Network has its own funding stream worth billions of Euros to cover the transport links strategically important to Europe.

Countries of the Central European Initiative (http://cei.int/) see cross-border and transnational co-operations as an important opportunity of common development of tourism – that was the main conclusion of the conference organized for tourism organisations and experts by the Hungarian Ministry for National Economy.

National Institute for Research and Development in Tourism – INCDT Romania has presented the ICT project at the first regional workshop of the TRANSDANUBE project, in Reșița, Caraș-Severin County, Romania

TRANSDANUBE Projectpartners, stakeholders from the tourism and transport sector and partners of the Project "Iron Curtain Trail" from the Austria-Hungary border region met in the Nationalpark-Center (Neusiedler See - Seewinkel) in Illmitz (Austria) to discuss about sustainable mobility packages: how they should be created to meet the expactations of locals and tourists.

Within the framework of ETC project „CYCLING AT-HU – Cycling experience without borders” project partners, cycling and tourism experts met to discuss current developments in the border region Austria- Hungary.

Kiril Kaloyanov from the Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism presented the Iron Curtain Trail project on two events - on the 4th Danube Competence Center General Assembly in Sofia (4th of December 2012) and on the “Holiday Expo Sofia 2013” (14th of February 2013)

On 13th of March 2013, a regional touristic forum has been organized in Szombathely, Hungary within the framework of the projects InTourAct ( Integrated Touristic Action Plans in the SEE region ) and CCC (Cultural Capital Counts). The project Iron Curtain Trail has been presented to touristic organisations, development agencies, municipalities and other stakeholders from Vas county, Hungary.

The West-Pannon Nonprofit Ltd and the Bakony-Balaton TDM organised a joint national partnership meeting in Győr at 25.02.2012 in the frame of the TRANSDANUBE project. The aim of the meeting was to introduce the project to the Hungarian associated and observer partners, share information on ongoing and future projects, the „Iron Curtain Trail” project among them.
