Within 6.2 activity of Work Package 6, the National Institute for Research and Development in Tourism (ERDF PP11, Romania) organised on 20th June 2014 a study tour along the Orşova – Eşelniţa – Dubova route, in order to promote the Iron Curtain Trail and to encourage cycling in Romania. This section of the Romanian part of the Iron Curtain Trail has lots of potential for attracting cycle tourists. Located in the Iron Gates area, there is a great concentration of attractions and points of interest along the way.

Austrian-Hungarian border section of the Trail will be officially opened on 19th August 2014, the 25th anniversary of the Paneuropean Picnic, a symbolic event for the fall of the Iron Curtain. This event will be followed by an international cycling trip and festival organised by project partner Hungarian Cycling Alliance.

Partners of the Iron Curtain Trail project held their 5th project meeting on May 20th 2014 in Grad, Slovenia. Representatives of the partners: developmental organisations, non governmental organisations and regional authorities discussed the progress of the project activities and coordinated their future steps under the framework of ICT project financed by the SEE programme.

Little less than 30 participants from 6 countries have gathered in Pomurje region for the cycling trip along the Slovenian section of the EuroVelo 13 Iron Curtain Trail.

Hungarian Project partner National Agricultural Advisory, Education and Rural Development Institute (NAERDI) held a workshop in the framework of the project on 10th of May 2014 in Csesztreg, Hungary. Organizations operating along the border Slovenia-Hungary, decision makers, as well as LEADER Local Action Groups were invited to the event. NAERDI’s role in the project includes the survey of the route section at border between Slovenia and Hungary, incitement of sustainable transportation solutions in the region and awerness raising of tourism service providers. After the workshop, participants visited the inauguration ceremony of the “Hetési Barátság Park” (Hetés Friendship Park) located on the Slovenian-Hungarian border between Žitkovci, Slovenia and Bödeháza, Hungary.

Enterprise Europe Network at the Business Centre for Small and Medium Enterprises – Ruse, Bulgaria organized the already traditional brokerage event CrossTour 2014 for companies from tourism and creative fields. The fourth business forum CrossTour took place on April 24th 2014 in Ruse, Bulgaria and once again proved that it is an efficient platform which enables professionals to get acquainted with potential partners, create new business contacts, promote new products, as well as embark on joint projects.

Bratislava region was the area of this cycling study trip, organized along Slovak section of the EuroVelo 13 Iron Curtain Trail on April 25, 2014 by ICT project partner Ekopolis Fundation. Participants (total 26 persons) from 4 countries - Hungary, Austria, Czech republic and various regions of Slovakia – were representing project partners and stakeholders of various resorts – from regional development agencies, public transportation companies and private business to transportation experts and NGOs.

According to discussions between ICT Project Partner 3 Hungarian Cycling Alliance and Fertő-Hanság National Park, the first EuroVelo 13 signs were put out on the sections of the Iron Curtain Trail along the Fertő Lake (Neusiedler See) where the National Park renovated and reconstructed the cycling paths founded by the Regional Operational Programme of West Transdanubia Region.

On Saturday, March 30th 2014, cyclists organisations, tourist agencies and transportation services representatives as well as independent cyclists and other stakeholders participated in the study tour organised by “ANTIGONE-Information and Documentation Center on Racism, Ecology, Peace and Non Violence” for the project “Iron Curtain Trail: Sustainable mobility along the newest EuroVelo route”. The study tour took place close to Kerkini lake, in a region some km. south of the Greek Bulgarian part of Iron Curtain Trail (EuroVelo 13) route. The organisation of the study tour has been in collaboration with the National EuroVelo Coordination Center for Greece.

Bratislava's regional administration and Bratislava Region Tourism Organisation published new cycling maps of the Bratislava region. One of them called "Pomoravie" (Morava River basin) shows almost whole Slovak section of the Iron Curtain Trail. Map's scale is 1:60.000 what is good resolution for cycling. The map is not directly connected with the project financed by the SEE programme but with the ICT route.

A series of meetings between transportation and tourism entity representatives and Giorgos Farfaras, representative of ANTIGONE for Iron Curtain Trail project, were held in Athens for the development of sustainable tourism and transportation offers under the framework of the project “Iron Curtain Trail: Sustainable mobility along the newest EuroVelo route” of South East Europe Programme (SEE, http://www.southeast-europe.net/). The project is being implemented in the prefectures of Central and Eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

The National Institute for Research and Development in Tourism presented the “Iron Curtain Trail” project at the 31 edition of the Romanian Tourism Fair, in the official stand of the National Tourism Authority.

INCDT organised a meeting with the representatives from National Authority for Tourism and from Carpat Bike (a Romanian cycling organization who offer a cycle inspired tour along the route and who plans to develop the route in the future) as part of the National Action Plan consultation process.

Representatives of transport providers, touristic organisations, local municipalities and project partners met in Szombathely on 11.03.2014 to discuss ideas and coordinate activities in work package 4.

The race has been organized in the framework of Cyclingspot Mountain Bike Cup that comprises of a series of six mountain bike races for independent athletes.

The "Cyclists Welcome Hellas" network together with National Eurovelo Coordination Center for Greece travelled to Sporades Islands from 6 to 10 of February 2014 with the aim to promote the Iron Curtain Trail project and the EuroVelo network in Greece

Project activities include the elaboration of feasibility studies about improving route conditions as well as about combined public and bicycle transport. This latter topic is especially relevant in Slovakia, where public transport is, in a large part of the ICT area, not well developed.
